Chefs For Farmers kicks off with more talent than you can shake your steak knife at. Hosted by Chef John Tesar of Knife, this high-profile showdown features an all-star cast of Top Chef® alums, at the vibrant Dallas Farmers Market. Each of these culinary masters will feature their own distinctive spin on the bold and bright flavors of Texas beef and regional cuisine.
August 9, 2017 – Jim judged the 2017 Farmers Market Coalition Poster Contest as part of the National Farmers Market Week celebration.
Chef Jim Smith is now a Chef Advocate for Wild American Shrimp. Chef Advocates support Wild American shrimp and use it in their restaurants and recipes whenever possible.
The program was created to inspire and educate chefs and other culinary professionals about the unique qualities of Wild American shrimp, over mass produced imports, and showcase how this succulent and nutritious source of protein from the Gulf and South Atlantic warm waters can be incorporated into a range of inspired culinary dishes.
August 5, 2017 -Jim will be judging at the 14th annual Great American Seafood Cook-Off, a cooking competition in New Orleans. The competition pits 12 U.S. chefs against one another in a timed, live cooking show.
The winner will be crowned the 2017 King of American Seafood.
December 1, 2016 – Top Chef Season 14 premiere on Bravo. Top Chef just announced Season 14’s new contestants and guess who is competing! Jim Smith and seven other acclaimed chefs from across the country will be battling it out with eight chefs from previous seasons. SEE THE PREVIEW.
